Interior Decorating That Feels Personal — Because It Is

Hi, I’m April — and honestly, I’ve never been able to walk into a space without noticing the beautifully decorated interiors, the fine details of millwork, or the way I feel when I sit in a comfortable chair. I also can’t help myself when I start to reimagine all the possibilities of how and what I would do to redecorate.

It doesn’t matter if I’m at my house, a hotel, a local café, or wandering through a furniture decor center, my brain just turns on. I start noticing how things are built, where the light hits, what materials they used, how the space flows.

Design has always lived in me. It’s not just my career, it’s how I move through the world. Even when I travel or go for nature walks, I catch myself admiring building details, intricate cravings, the bark on a tree or hues of colour in a landscape.

I love problem-solving. I love helping people create a space that feels like their own, even if they can’t quite describe what “their own” means yet.

My path to starting April Lee Interiors has been a long one: a slow, steady build of experience, training, and self-discovery. I’ve worked in all kinds of design-related roles for nearly three decades: cabinetry, flooring, lighting, paint, material selection, renovation support, project planning — the list goes on. But no matter where I worked or what title I held, I always came back to the same question: How can I make this space feel good for someone?

That’s what this business is built on.

That’s where I come in. I ask questions. I listen. I help the client to navigate design decisions throughout the process. Then I take all of it, their personality, their goals, their lifestyle, and I help shape it into a space that supports them and tells their story.

Because your home should feel like a reflection of you, not just where you are today, but where you’re going.
This isn’t just what I do. It’s who I am.
And if you’re looking for someone who sees you, hears you, and can help you bring your next chapter to life, I’d love to work together.

Warmly,
April

From small renovations to full-home transformations

Whether you’re just looking to rework your living room layout, or you’re knee-deep in a custom new build, I’m here to help you confidently navigate the decisions ahead.

I’ve worked with hundreds of clients, builders, and designers over the years, helping with:

Z

Full material selections for new builds

Z

Layouts for presentation centers and model homes

Z

Specialty projects like Conestoga Mall’s public restrooms (2010) and Fanshawe College’s Student Union (2003)

Z

Custom cabinetry, lighting, furniture placement, space planning, color palettes, and more

And while I have the technical skills, what truly sets me apart is how I guide people through the chaos — making it feel calm, manageable, and even fun.

More than a decorator — a partner in the process

My clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed or unsure. They’re busy, they’re managing tight budgets, or they’ve already made a few design decisions they regret.

Here’s what I focus on:

Z
Simplifying the process so you can enjoy it
Z

Keeping you informed without overwhelming you

Z
Being the calm in the chaos when things get tricky
Z
Offering creative solutions to real problems
Z
Making your space work for your life
The most rewarding part of what I do? When clients not only love the result — but feel grateful for how smooth and supported the journey was.

Mindful by Design

I’ve always been aware of how my choices impact the world around me, in my life and in my work.

Sustainable design isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being intentional.
Whenever possible, I aim to include elements that are better for both the environment and the people who live in the space.

If the design, budget, and client’s style allows, I love incorporating:

Z
Renewable or recycled materials
Z
Low-VOC paints and finishes
Z
Locally sourced products
Z
Vintage, refurbished, or antique furniture
Z
Biophilic design — bringing nature into the home to create calm and connection
I like to call it “Mindful Eco-Interiors” — a gentle, practical approach to creating spaces that support your life and the planet.

When I’m not designing…

I’m a hands-on creative person in every area of life — always planning a project, rearranging a space, or getting my hands dirty in the garden.
Z
I’m deeply engaged with my community, from organizing fundraisers, to my involvement with a new playground design project, all the way to hosting neighborhood picnics
Z
I design and build things around the house — from custom closets and raised garden beds to pipe shelving and patio walkways
Z
I love organizing pantries, creating photo walls, and drawing layouts just for fun (yes, really!)
Z
My joy comes from the simple things: campfires, podcasts, concerts, family game nights, walking in nature and summer trips to Sauble Beach

Let’s create a space that makes you feel at home again.

Whether you need full-service support or a custom plan to DIY on your own, I’d be honored to guide you through your next project — with warmth, clarity, and care.
